An Update and a Beginning.

The Update Portion

Hello, yes, hi. I have been MIA for a long time. What can I say, senior year just got the best of me. But now, I’m back with a vengeance. I’ll be blogging once or twice a week to document my progress and throw in some helpful knowledge as I go. I’m learning how to get healthy, both mentally and physically, so of course I’m going to pass on anything I learn.

The Beginning Portion

Today is Day 1 (well, technically it’s day 31, but it’s my first day here blogging about it, so it’s day one). I weigh 180lbs. Not great, but not bad either I guess. I’ve lost 4.8lbs from my highest weight ever. I went to the doctor’s office today for a wellness check just to establish a solid baseline, and everything came back normal. My blood pressure might say I’m healthy, but I know that I don’t feel as healthy as I do at lower weights. I felt my healthiest at 150, and while that’s a long way off, I know that I’ll be able to get back to that weight by changing my lifestyle to be healthier. I’ll be meditating more, doing yoga more, running more, taking more time for myself, learning daily, eating better, and really just trying to slowly improve myself and become the best that I can be. Most people might include a before picture or something like that here, and while I have those, I feel that progress is for myself to see as more of a check. I don’t really care about how I look as long as I feel healthy, and while I’m losing weight on the outside, my progress will be on this inside and I have no intention of attempting to take pictures of my guts. I’m not really sure what to post as criteria to judge my health on, but here’s a few I’ll at least temporarily use.

  • Weight: 180lbs
  • BMI: 28.2
  • Mile time: 12:49
  • Days feeling under the weather this week: 3
  • Average hours of sleep: 6
  • Completely logging my food into myfitesspal: 3
  • Average steps taken: ~3000 (I didn’t have any step tracking going on for a few days. )
  • Time spent learning: 3 hours.

My 2021 Goals

  • I already mentioned this, but I’d like to be down to 150lbs. I don’t anticipate seeing this in 2021, but that’s ok.
  • I’m going to run a 10 minute mile. This one I think I might even be able to do by July, so a reach goal is to run a sub 10 minute mile. (I also have several smaller goals for this one to help me get here. 2.5 mins quarter mile? check.)
  • I’d like to pay more attention to what I eat and really learn how different foods affect me. If a food constantly gives me a headache and makes me not want to run, I want to know that ish.
  • I’d like to sleep an average of 8 hours a day. I recognize that this won’t always happen, but I will try my darndest because I NEED SLEEP.
  • I’d like to create a wardrobe that speaks to my goals. Comfy clothes are ok for home, I’m specifically referring to my business clothes. I’d like to create a wardrobe that conveys that I’d like to be a badass female engineer and that I’ll work hard to get there.
  • I’d like to take more time for both self care and self maintenance. I tend to put others first and that puts me behind, so it’s nice to take some time to catch up. It should be noted that I refer to self care and self maintenance as separate things, but self maintenance is both comforting and soothing for me, and also makes me feel great about myself.
  • I’m going to reach out to my friends more often. The pandemic definitely make things weird, but it’s time to unweird things and start video calling everyone that I miss. Life is short and I miss my besties.
  • I’m going to learn more. Now that I am out of school and done studying for my FE exam, I have a lot more time in my schedule to learn. I’m going to mix in engineering related, health related, and general topics into my repertoire, and I’m going to keep practicing cello.
  • I’d like to create a vision board to manifest my goals into reality. (Will come soon and I’ll have pictures of that)
